Pampered By My Rich Husband

Pampered By My Rich Husband

Ah, the joys of being married to someone with a… let’s call it a robust bank account. It’s not all private jets and caviar, mind you. There’s a certain art to being pampered by my rich husband, a delicate dance between gratitude and the occasional raised eyebrow at the sheer absurdity of it all. You know the kind of thing, right? The kind of thing that makes your friends mutter about “winning the lottery” while you’re just trying to figure out which cashmere throw best complements the Persian rug.

Take, for instance, the concept of "errands." For most people, errands involve battling supermarket crowds and wrestling with self-checkout machines. For me? It’s more about deciding whether the chauffeur should take me to the designer boutique across town or the other designer boutique across town. It’s a real Sophie's Choice, I tell you. The pressure is immense. Will the “newest collection” be too avant-garde for Tuesday? Will the sales assistant judge my choice of handbag if I’m not wearing the matching shoes? These are the burdens I bear, dear reader. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.

The Small Things

And then there are the little touches. The ones that make you feel like a queen, even when you’re just retrieving the mail. He’s developed this charming habit of pre-warming my car on chilly mornings. Not just a quick blast of the heater, oh no. We’re talking about seat warmers on, defroster on, and a gentle, almost imperceptible hum of pure, unadulterated luxury. Sometimes I worry I’ll forget how to start a car myself. Will I one day stand in the rain, bewildered, by a cold steering wheel, muttering about "the good old days"?

The culinary adventures are another story. While I occasionally enjoy a good home-cooked meal (usually prepared by someone else, naturally), my husband’s definition of “dinner at home” often involves a Michelin-starred chef descending upon our kitchen like a culinary ninja. I’ve learned to feign surprise and delight when a dish arrives that I’ve never even heard of, let alone conceived of making. "Oh, foie gras? How fascinating! And is that a reduction of balsamic vinegar infused with star anise? You shouldn't have!" My acting skills are, frankly, Oscar-worthy.

Travels and Trinkets

Travel is, of course, an entirely different ball game. Forget economy class and cramped legroom. My husband believes that the only way to truly experience the world is from the comfort of a private cabin, where the champagne flows freely and the only turbulence you experience is the delightful flutter of your own heart at the sheer extravagance. We’ve landed in cities I can barely pronounce, all because he saw a particularly enticing picture of a… well, something. It could have been a rare orchid or a particularly well-tailored suit. The reasoning is often a delightful mystery.

And the gifts! Oh, the gifts. It’s not just about the size of the diamond, though, let’s be honest, those are rather nice too. It’s the thought. Or, more accurately, the purchasing power behind the thought. He once gifted me a vintage Chanel bag that was apparently owned by a French duchess. I’m not entirely sure what one does with a duchess’s handbag, but it looks fabulous on my dresser, right next to the unread copy of "War and Peace" I received last Christmas. It’s all about the aesthetic, you see.

So yes, being pampered by my rich husband is a full-time occupation. It requires dedication, a discerning palate, and the ability to maintain a plausible expression of genuine surprise. It’s a life of gilded comfort, where the biggest decision of the day might be which shade of designer lipstick to wear for my afternoon sojourn to the private art gallery. And if that doesn't sound like a delightful kind of hard work, well, then I don't know what does!

Honestly, sometimes I feel like I should start charging him for my services. After all, someone has to keep this whole opulent operation looking effortless and chic. And who better than me, the reigning queen of… well, of being incredibly well-looked-after. Now, if you'll excuse me, I believe my personal shopper is on the line about a limited edition Birkin. Don't worry, I'll try not to rub it in too much.
