My Bestie Doesn T Know I Ve Turned Into A Girl
Okay, so, confession time. You know my bestie, right? The one I’ve known since, like, kindergarten? Yeah, that one. Well, she has NO idea. Like, zero clue. What am I talking about? Oh, just that… I’ve kind of, sort of, totally turned into a girl.
Crazy, right? One minute we’re debating the merits of pineapple on pizza (still a no for me, btw), and the next… poof! Magic wand? Nope. A really, really long and confusing internal journey? Yep, that’s more like it.
It’s been a whole… thing. You know? Like, figuring out clothes. Suddenly, my old t-shirts just don't feel… right. And don't even get me started on bras. Is it supposed to be this complicated? Seriously, how do people navigate this without a cheat sheet?
The hardest part? Keeping it from her. She’s my go-to for everything. Need help moving? She’s there. Need someone to rant about a bad date to? She’s on speakerphone. Need someone to… you know… be me? She’s the first person I call.
So, how do I explain this whole… transformation? "Hey, remember how we used to bond over video games and complaining about homework? Well, surprise! I'm a girl now!" Sounds a bit… abrupt, doesn't it? I can already picture her face. Wide eyes, a little tilt of the head, and then probably, "Wait, what?"
And then what? Do I suddenly start talking about nail polish? (Actually, I've been kind of liking some of those pastel shades, don't judge me!) Or do we have to re-learn everything about each other? Will she still want to go to those ridiculously loud concerts with me? Will she understand if I suddenly want to try on all her dresses? (Hypothetically, of course.)
It’s like I’m living a double life, but the other life is just… me. A different version of me. A me that feels more… right. It’s exhilarating, honestly. And terrifying. Mostly terrifying when I think about telling my bestie.
I’ve tried dropping little hints, you know? Like, "Wow, that dress is so cute!" or "I’m thinking of maybe trying a new hairstyle." She just shrugs and says, "Yeah, you do you." Bless her heart. She has no idea the "you" she's talking about is a completely different person now!
I just hope… I really hope she’ll be okay with it. That she won’t think it’s weird or that I’ve been lying to her. Because I haven’t been. Not really. It’s just taken me a while to figure myself out. And now that I have… well, it’s a bit of a pickle, isn't it?
Fingers crossed for a smooth landing. And maybe a shopping trip with her soon? A girl’s shopping trip, that is. We’ll see. Wish me luck!
